My Miracles

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Three years ago today I became a parent.

I know it's an overused cliche to say it's amazing how quickly the time goes, but it doesn't make it less true.

It really doesn't seem very long ago that I was handed a tiny blanket wrapped boy in the delivery room.

Now he's a running, yelling, wonderful wild three year old boy.

I don't think I fully appreciated how fast it would all go with my son. I was so caught up in the daily drama that I didn't step back enough and just enjoy him.

With my daughter, I have a much better appreciation for the baby phase. For better or worse, the sleepless nights just don't last very long.

My baby girl is only three months old and she has already changed so much. She flashes huge smiles, giggles and flirts like crazy. Her newest accomplish is rolling over (and she's quite proud of herself).

It's hard to accept that in a short time she'll be running after my son.

I just want to hit the pause button and keep them just the way they are a little longer.

Every single baby is a miracle.

Becoming a parent is an ordinary, every day miracle, but when it happens to you it is extraordinary just the same.

P.S. I wanted to thank The Green-Eyed Momster for this:

Another cliche, but true......the older you get the faster it goes. Enjoy every moment with your little miracles.

Happy birthday to your son!!! and you are right, they do grow up so fast. Best advice I give young moms is to enjoy each phase of the kids' lives and not try to rush them through it, like saying "I wish they would talk", "I wish they would walk", "I wish they would sleep through the night", etc. Because it does go by so fast and in a blink of an eye, it seems like, they are 18 years old and graduating from high school

hope it is a good day for your son and family celebrating his life :)

I found your blog over at green eyed momster.
Nice blog.
You are so right about the time flying by. I'm very sure that no one ever complained that they spent too much time with their little kids. Sure they are difficult and annoying at times but those miracles give us great lasting memories.
I just gave away my second daughter's hand to her new husband. Thinking about holding her little hand through the years is bringing tears to my eyes. Little ones are special.

Congrats on your miracles. I wish I'd had a blog when my teenagers were little so I could capture every precious moment because I need reminders today of how cute and cuddly they were when they were small enough to hold in my lap!
You are so, very welcome!
Hugs!!

Even the tough moments are good ones. Thanks for the reminder, and Happy Birthday to your little guy!

People wouldn't say it all the time if it weren't true. Still, it manages to surprise each and every one of us when our teeny tiny babies become rough and tumble kids. :(

so true...was thinking the same this weekend when my 5 year old asked if i was the easter bunny...another milestone...

I so enjoyed each phase of my children's development. And even now, when they are coming up on 17 and 23 (in June) I find myself wishing to keep them exactly the way they are RIGHT NOW.

And I'm with Green Eyed Momster... I wish I'd blogged back then. But of course I didn't have a computer. No one did, really. And Algore hadn't invented the internet yet.

All hail the computer age!!

And three year old boys.

::sigh::

I really miss my babies.

Truer words have never been written. I feel like the baby stage was over in a blink and I didn't take the time to notice everything.

Well said. I wish I could go back and relax more with my Little One's real baby days. I was such a worrywart wreck then!

Happy (belated) Birthday to your fast growing boy! I was just last night talking to my sister (whose daughter turns two today) and we were both saying that same cliche - too fast. Too fast.
